Description

She came to New York to present a new project.
He was in New York for a meeting.
One moment – one point of convergence – changed the course of their lives.
Doctor Rameen Rashed’s project for the women in the village and her work as a doctor in Kenya were her life. She wasn’t interested in anything or anyone interfering with her goals.
Hunter James was a movie star who was hounded by the press – and women – incessantly, yet his love and focus was his work in Africa with the Foster Foundation.
They were not prepared to deviate from their chosen paths until, on a rainy day in New York, their worlds collided.
Were they willing to compromise? Up until now, that answer had always been ‘no’.
Under the backdrop of Kenya, they find their way. But will their newfound love survive the rigors of life…and the paparazzi?

Excerpt:
It all felt so normal, being here with her, dancing with her, listening to her talk. Rameen talked, I listened and asked questions; not what I was used to.
The band changed beat again to another slow one and I almost tripped when I heard what they were playing. Rameen had noticed too.
Our dancing continued but I couldn’t tear my eyes away from hers. Our smiles were gone. I knew I was feeling knocked off my axis. I was beginning to believe Rameen felt it too.
A shiver of awareness came over me in that instant. You know that feeling, like a ghost walking over your grave, or that feeling when you are sure God’s talking to you. All I knew was I had to do everything in my power to get to know this woman more, and for her to come to know me, the real me. Because if we didn’t, something – or someone – was telling me it would be the biggest regret of my life.
“Have dinner with me? Tomorrow?” My heart pounded fitfully in my chest and I could see by the hitches in her breath that hers was beating erratically too. My voice sounded desperate, pleading, but I knew, within seconds of asking, by the look on her face, a kaleidoscope of emotion, she wasn’t going to accept. And I was devastated beyond anything I’d ever experienced before.
“Thank-you for the dance, Hunter. It was…lovely. But there can never be anything more.” Rameen stepped away from me and began her return to her father, leaving me behind.
